Putting the children first …
When parents who are involved in a legal dispute can’t decide what is best for their children, especially if there are issues of abuse, neglect, domestic violence or substance abuse, a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) may be appointed by the court to protect the rights and advocate for the best interests of the children. The parents are generally responsible for the expense of a GAL. A GAL evaluates the child’s situation, then makes an independent recommendation to the court by focusing on the needs of each child.
In cases where Kathryn is not acting as an attorney, she can be appointed as GAL. As a GAL, Kathryn advocates for the best interests of the children she represents.
